The Carbon Dioxide Laser
Our office is equipped with state of the art laser technology. The laser is so accurate and precise that it can treat an area less than one millimeter in diameter without affecting surrounding tissue. The laser beam is used instead of a scalpel to cut tissue away with remarkable control- it can remove as little as a single layer of cells if desired by the doctor.
Proven to be safe and beneficial in over 20 years of medical use, laser surgery is substantially less painful than conventional excision techniques.
Benefits include:

Your Facial Examination
As part of your examination, Dr. Osborne will evaluate you for lesions in your mouth and on your facial skin. Any abnormal tissue changes may require removal and submission to a pathologist for review. This can usually be performed painlessly with a carbon dioxide laser.
Lesions in the Mouth
Dr. Osborne will perform an oral cancer examination on all new patients. Persons with a history of smoking or using chewing tobacco have a higher incidence of oral cancer. Any questionable tissue must be investigated and should be removed.
Facial Lesions
Dr. Osborne will evaluate you for any facial and neck lesions. Certain lesions may be prone to becoming cancerous. Such lesions should be removed and sent to a pathologist for review. The use of the laser is ideal for removing these lesions.
